Our Engineering department focuses on the research and development of strategic products in the field of fiber optics telecommunications and serves as a predevelopment stage for the rest of the R&D organization, regarding development projects in the area of optical fiber management and sealing technologies.
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer at our Kessel Lo, Belgium location with the opportunity to collaborate with the manufacturing team on process development and introductions of new products.
How You'll Help us Connect The World
The role plays a part in developing mechanical appliances for fiber optic and copper telecommunication products to support the high-speed networks of the future! This is an opportunity to apply design skills to build solutions that address customer problems, are reliable, minimize costs, and are easy to manufacture.
As a mechanical engineer in the CommScope Engineering department, you will be working with a multidisciplinary team of optical, mechanical, and material specialists, driving project-specific elements plans, detailing product requirements based on industry standards, and building clear and concise documentation to promote the release of new and modified products.
We encourage independently analyzing and seeking well-defined problems with little direction/supervision to sustain the optical and mechanical testing of fiber optic products.
Challenges for this role include delivering technical improvements to existing products/processes/services where feasible resulting in cost reductions or quality improvement with a positive contribution to the knowledge base within CommScope and cooperating with the Field Application Engineering to assure that products are usable by the customer in an application setting.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
- BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of plastic molding through professional experience or academic background.
- English proficient.
You Will Excite Us If You Have:
- Experience in 3D CAD modeling.
- Basic knowledge/experience with engineering tools such as LEAN and/or 6-sigma.
- Experience in manufacturing and assembly processes, particularly those of plastic injection molded and metal stamped parts
- Knowledge of statistical methods and analysis; experience with statistical tolerance modeling, DOE and GD&T
- Dutch speaker.
